Our Story

Burning Sage Acres Glamping began with something simple. Time spent outdoors with family.

For years, Mike and Luke have brought their families to Tekamah, Nebraska, to explore the rolling hills, boating and fishing on Summit Lake, and the quiet moments that make this area special. What started as a place to visit slowly became something more. A place to slow down, reconnect, and appreciate what matters most.

We found ourselves coming back again and again. Early mornings by the water. Kids running through open fields. Evenings under painted Nebraska skies next to a glowing fire.

At some point, it became clear this wasn’t something to keep to ourselves. It was something worth sharing.

The Meaning Behind Burning Sage

The name Burning Sage is a tribute to Luke’s grandparents and their work at Burning Sage Ranch of Challenge.

There, individuals with disabilities, many with Down syndrome, were given the opportunity to ride horses, compete in rodeos, and experience a sense of freedom and accomplishment that stayed with them for life.

That spirit of inclusion, connection, and meaningful experience is something we hope to carry forward at Burning Sage Acres Glamping.

Why We're Building Buring Sage

We believe people are craving something simpler.

In a world filled with screens, schedules, and constant noise, it’s easy to lose touch with what matters. Time outside. Time together. Time to think.

Burning Sage Acres Campground is our way of creating a space where that connection comes naturally.

More Than a Glamping Getaway

This project is personal for our families.

We want our kids to grow up understanding the value of the outdoors. Learning how to care for the land, spending time outside, and seeing what it means to build something from the ground up.

It’s also a chance to teach them entrepreneurship, responsibility, and how to create something meaningful.
